Your words stay on your clay.
Effective July 9, 2026 · Applies to the CunAI app (macOS, Windows, Linux, Android) and the cunai.app website
What CunAI collects
Nothing. CunAI does not collect, store, transmit, share, or sell any personal data. The app contains no analytics or advertising frameworks and no third-party tracking SDKs. Your searches, your reading history, and everything you type are processed entirely on your device and never leave it.
What stays on your device
CunAI keeps a small amount of data locally so the app works well offline:
- The bundled dictionary, sign list, and corpus data.
- The optional semantic-search assets (embedding model, tokenizer, and search index) after you choose to download them.
- Your recent searches and app preferences.
None of this is visible to us or to anyone else. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data from your system settings, removes all of it.
The one time the app touches the network
The dictionary works fully offline, with no downloads at all. Semantic deep search needs an embedding model and a prebuilt index, which the app offers to download once, with your explicit consent, from two public hosts:
- The embedding model and tokenizer from a public Hugging Face mirror.
- The prebuilt search index from GitHub Releases.
These downloads are ordinary HTTPS file requests. Like any web request, they expose your IP address and a standard user agent to those hosts, which handle that information under their own policies: the Hugging Face privacy policy and the GitHub privacy statement. CunAI sends no query content, no identifiers, and no telemetry in these requests, and it verifies every downloaded file against a known sha256 checksum. After this one-time setup, deep search runs entirely offline.
The website
cunai.app is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics scripts, and has no sign-in. It is served by Cloudflare, whose infrastructure may keep standard, short-lived server logs as described in the Cloudflare privacy policy. We do not see or keep those logs.
Children
CunAI is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy
If the app's behavior ever changes in a way that affects privacy, this page will be updated first and the effective date above revised. Since the app has no way to contact you, this page is the single source of truth.
